The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame is an American hall of fame in Hayward, Wisconsin, dedicated to promoting freshwater fishing. Approximately 100,000 visitors tour the museum each year. Founded in 1960, the Hall of Fame is located on a six-acre plot of land near Wisconsin Highway 27 and occupies 25,000 square feet (2,300 m²) in seven buildings. The highlight of the museum complex is a landmark "Shrine to Anglers" which is one-half city block long and four and one-half stories tall, of concrete, steel and fiberglass, hand-sculpted into the likeness of a leaping fish. There are also indoor and outdoor exhibits, a library, an archive, and a theater. The Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made significant contributions to freshwater fishing, such as anglers, conservationists, and writers. The Hall of Fame also exhibits artifacts related to freshwater fishing, including rods, reels, boats, and tackle.
